Futbol Club Barcelona, commonly known as FC Barcelona or simply Barça, is a professional football club based in La Maternitat i Sant Ramon, Barcelona, Catalonia, Spain. Founded on November 29, 1899, by a group of Swiss, English, German, and Catalan footballers led by Joan Gamper, the club has become a symbol of Catalan culture and identity, encapsulated in its motto Més que un club (More than a club). Unlike most football clubs, Barcelona is owned and operated by its supporters, making it one of the world's most valuable sports teams, worth $5.6 billion, and the fourth-richest in revenue, with an annual turnover of €800.1 million.

Barcelona competes in La Liga, Spain's top professional football division, and is one of only three founding members never to have been relegated, alongside Athletic Bilbao and Real Madrid. The club's home matches have been played at several venues throughout its history, including the iconic Camp Nou, which opened in 1957. During the 2023-24 season and into 2024-25, due to renovations at Camp Nou as part of the Espai Barça project, the team temporarily plays at the Lluís Companys Olympic Stadium. The club's style of play is renowned for its emphasis on teamwork, fluid passing, and the famed tiki-taka philosophy.

Barcelona is one of the most widely supported teams in the world, with fans known as culers. The club's anthem, Cant del Barça, is sung before every home match. The official colors are dark blue and garnet stripes, giving rise to the nickname Blaugrana. With over 140,000 members (socis), the club's supporters own and operate it, and official supporters' groups are known as Penyes. The club's first match was a 0-1 defeat against a selection of English expatriates. Barcelona won its first trophy, the Copa Macaya (Catalan championship), in 1902, and claimed the Copa del Rey for the first time in 1910. By 1922, under Gamper's leadership, membership had grown to 20,000, financing a new stadium, Les Corts, which held up to 60,000 spectators. Jack Greenwell, the first full-time manager, led the team to eleven Campionat de Catalunya titles, six Copa del Rey trophies, and four Pyrenees Cups.

The modern golden era began with Johan Cruyff as manager from 1988 to 1996. His Dream Team won the club's first European Cup in 1992 and established Barcelona's football philosophy, including the La Masia academy. Pep Guardiola's tenure (2008-2012) is considered another peak, with 14 trophies in four years, including two Champions League titles and three La Liga titles. In 2009, Barcelona became the first Spanish club to win the continental treble (La Liga, Copa del Rey, Champions League) and the first European club to win six competitions in a year. Under Luis Enrique in 2015, they became the first European club to achieve the continental treble twice.

Recent seasons have seen continued success, with Ernesto Valverde securing consecutive La Liga titles in 2018 and 2019. However, financial difficulties and the departure of Lionel Messi in 2021 marked a challenging period. The club appointed Xavi Hernández as manager in 2021, who led them to a La Liga title in 2023.
