Futbol Club Andorra calls the capital city of Andorra la Vella home, yet it plays its matches in the Spanish league system. The club operates under a unique arrangement dating to 1948 when it joined the Catalan Football Federation instead of the local Andorran association. This decision allowed the team to climb the Spanish pyramid while representing a sovereign nation with fewer than 80,000 residents.

A major shift occurred in 2019 when retired defender Gerard Piqué led the Piqué Group to purchase the club. That investment transformed a regional side into a professional outfit capable of challenging established teams. For decades, FC Andorta competed in the lower tiers of the Catalan and Spanish systems, including the Primera Catalana.
