Fate/kaleid liner Prisma Illya

In an alternate universe, Illyasviel von Einzbern is a normal elementary school student whose life flips upside down when the magical wand Magical Ruby forces her into a contract. Her mission: collect seven Class Cards, each containing a powerful Heroic Spirit, by defeating them in battle. Alongside her friend Miyu Edelfelt, who wields Magical Sapphire, Illya navigates a world blending magical-girl antics with the high-stakes combat of the Fate universe. Familiar faces like Rin Tohsaka and Luvia Edelfelt appear in new roles, while alternate versions of Saber and Archer add to the chaos.

Hiroshi Hiroyama, writing under the pen name KALMIA, launched the series in Kadokawa Shoten's Comp Ace magazine in 2007. The first volume hit shelves on November 26, 2008, in Japan. The original run concluded after one volume, but the story expanded into sequels: Fate/kaleid liner Prisma Illya 2wei (2009–2012, 4 volumes) and Fate/kaleid liner Prisma Illya 3rei!! (2012–present, 13 volumes as of 2024). One Peace Books handles the English release, starting with the first series in 2017.

The manga has sold over 2 million copies in Japan as of 2021. It spawned a popular anime adaptation by Silver Link, beginning with a 10-episode first season in 2013, followed by multiple sequels and two animated films: one in 2017 and another in 2021. A Japan-exclusive Nintendo 3DS game launched in 2014, and a stage play premiered in Tokyo in 2023. Critics praise the series for its lively art, clever fusion of genres, and surprising emotional depth in later arcs.
