About This Album
PinkPantheress stepped back into the spotlight on May 9, 2025 with Fancy That, a twenty-minute mixtape released through Warner Records. This project marked her second major release following her 2021 breakthrough and blended polished pop ambitions with the DIY experimentation that defined her early work. She co-produced much of the record alongside Aksel Arvid, Count Baldor, and Oscar Scheller to create an intimate yet expansive sonic landscape. Critics immediately recognized the shift in maturity, noting how the artist seamlessly merged genres like pop rock, alternative R&B, UK garage, and electronica.
The album debuted at number three on the UK Albums Chart and earned a spot on the shortlist for the 2025 Mercury Prize. Its commercial success was driven by strong streaming numbers and critical praise for its "patchwork sounds." The single "Illegal" garnered significant attention, eventually securing a Grammy nomination for Best Dance Pop Recording while the album itself received a nod for Best Dance/Electronic Album in 2026. PinkPantheress supported the release with an extensive tour that ran from September 2025 through June 2026.
Later in 2025, she expanded the project's reach with a remix album titled Fancy Some More? featuring collaborations with Kylie Minogue, Seventeen, and Kaytranada. By May 2026, outlets like The Daily Star highlighted the project's "less is more" approach, celebrating how the brevity allowed for a focused artistic statement. A new music video dropped that month to mark the first anniversary of the original release.
