Fairy Tail: 100 Years Quest

One year after the original Fairy Tail manga wrapped up, Natsu Dragneel and his friends take on a mission that has stumped every wizard for over a century: the 100 Years Quest. The job sends them to the unexplored continent of Guiltina, where they must seal away five Dragon Gods, ancient beings said to be even more dangerous than Acnologia. Along the way they clash with a rogue group called the Dragon Eaters, who hunt and consume dragons to gain power. A mysterious white-haired mage named Touka also appears, carrying a strange connection to Natsu that hints at deeper secrets.

Hiro Mashima writes the story while Atsuo Ueda handles the art, marking the first major Fairy Tail project where Mashima steps back from drawing. Ueda's style closely matches Mashima's signature look, with a slightly cleaner, more modern finish. The series began as a digital-first release on Kodansha's Magazine Pocket app on July 25, 2018. Twenty-three tankobon volumes have been collected in Japan as of April 2026, with Kodansha USA publishing the English edition.

An anime adaptation by J.C.Staff aired 25 episodes from July 7, 2024 to January 5, 2025. The animation quality drew mixed reactions, with some episodes praised for action scenes and others criticized for inconsistent motion. Still, the show helped revive interest in the franchise, sparking new fan art, merchandise, and online discussions. The sequel keeps the core themes of friendship and found family while exploring fresh ideas like the burden of legacy and the nature of power through the Dragon Gods and Dragon Eaters.[edit]
