Fognini's career is a testament to the idea that flair and fire can coexist with success. He became the oldest player ever to break into the ATP Top 10 for the first time, and the first Italian man to do so since Adriano Panatta in 1979. His Monte-Carlo Masters title in 2019 was a shock to the tennis world, as he beat Rafael Nadal on clay in the semifinal. In doubles, his partnership with Simone Bolelli produced an historic Australian Open title, breaking new ground for Italian tennis.
