Elias Nerlich

Elias Nerlich is a German content creator and former esports professional who has established himself as one of the most prominent figures in the German-speaking streaming community. Born on December 10, 1997, in Berlin, he operates under the online handles EliasN97, Eli, and Eligella. His career trajectory shifted from competitive gaming to full-time broadcasting, where he now commands a massive audience through his mix of high-level gameplay and engaging personality.

Today, Nerlich stands out not just for his gaming skills but for his successful expansion into real-world sports ventures. He bridges the gap between digital entertainment and physical athletics by co-founding The Icon League alongside football legend Toni Kroos. This initiative has solidified his status as a multi-hyphenate influencer who leverages his online fame to drive innovation in the sports sector. [edit]

Nerlich was born and raised in Berlin, Germany, where he developed an early passion for sports. By the age of four, he had already begun formal football training, demonstrating a natural aptitude for the game that eventually led him to compete at levels capable of supporting a semi-professional or professional career. Despite this strong athletic foundation, his interests began to pivot toward the digital world during his teenage years.

His entry into the spotlight started within the realm of esports, specifically the FIFA franchise. Competing under the handle EliasN97, he honed his technical skills and built a reputation as a top-tier player in Germany. This period was crucial for developing the charisma and strategic mindset he would later use to captivate audiences. While he competed in official qualifiers and gained recognition within the FIFA Esports community, his true ambition lay in blending competitive play with direct viewer interaction. This desire to create a more personal connection with fans set the stage for his transition away from pure competition toward full-time content creation. [edit]

The breakthrough moment for Nerlich came when he migrated from competitive tournaments to live streaming on Twitch. Leveraging his established reputation as a skilled FIFA player, he quickly grew his channel into one of the largest German-language streams available. His success relied on a formula that combined high-level gameplay with authentic, interactive chat sessions, allowing him to build a loyal community that valued both his skill and his personality.

In recent years, Nerlich expanded his portfolio beyond the screen into tangible sports ventures. A significant milestone occurred in 2022 when he joined the staff of Delay Sports, an influencer club based in Berlin. This move allowed him to merge his online persona with physical sports activities, creating a unique bridge between digital fame and real-world athletics. The venture gained further traction with the release of kits for the 2024-25 season and media coverage regarding its impact on sports marketing.

His most ambitious project launched in 2023: The Icon League. Partnering with German football icon Toni Kroos, Nerlich helped create a five-a-side football league designed to challenge existing formats like Kings League. The league features a mix of amateur players and ex-professionals, aiming to bring a new level of excitement to the sport. By late 2025, the venture proved highly successful, securing €15 million in Series A funding to expand globally. With a prize pool reaching €500,000 and a partnership with Dyn Media Content Desk for broadcast capabilities, Nerlich remains a central figure driving the organization's growth and media presence. [edit]

Nerlich projects an image of authenticity and approachability, distinguishing himself from more polished or scripted influencers. His style blends athletic wear typical of his football background with casual streetwear suitable for streaming. On social media and during broadcasts, he maintains a tone that feels conversational and unpretentious, which has helped him cultivate a dedicated following. The media perceives him as a forward-thinking entrepreneur who is successfully navigating the intersection of gaming, sports, and business. [edit]
