Eleanor Catton's career is marked by a series of historic achievements. She became the youngest author ever to win the Man Booker Prize at age 28, a record that still stands. She is also only the second New Zealander to win the award, following Keri Hulme. Her novel The Luminaries was praised for its ambitious structure and intricate plotting, and it won both the Booker and the Governor General's Literary Award. In 2023, she was named one of Granta's Best of Young British Novelists, a recognition of her influence and promise. Her work has been translated into over 20 languages, and she continues to be a leading voice in contemporary fiction.
