Ego Death at a Bachelorette Party

Hayley Williams released her third solo album, Ego Death at a Bachelorette Party, on August 28, 2025, through her own Post Atlantic imprint. This marked her first full-length project as an independent artist after parting ways with Atlantic Records. The rollout was anything but typical: Williams first uploaded 17 of the album's 20 tracks to her website in July 2025, then expanded the tracklist with two additional songs in late October and early November, completing the final sequence. The record was self-released and distributed across streaming platforms including Spotify, Apple Music, and SoundCloud.

Written with producer Daniel James and featuring contributions from Jim-E Stack and Brian Robert Jones, the album finds Williams playing multiple instruments herself, giving the project a raw, DIY intimacy. The lyrics grapple with themes she has wrestled with since age fifteen, including the pressure to perform and the need for ego dissolution. Personal turmoil surfaces throughout, with songs reportedly reflecting her dismay over her marriage to Chad Gilbert, referenced as "York" in some reviews. Critics have noted the album's genre fluidity, placing it within alternative rock while exploring a wide spectrum of art pop. Pitchfork scored it 7.3 out of 10, and Alternative Press named Williams its Artist of the Year for 2025, partly in recognition of this work. [edit]
