    About This Album

Dolly Parton returned to the mainstream country sound with her thirty-first solo studio album, Eagle When She Flies, released March 7, 1991, through Columbia Records. Produced by Steve Buckingham and Gary Smith while Parton served as executive producer, this record followed her 1989 experiment White Limozeen. The collection of fourteen tracks features collaborations with Lorrie Morgan and Ricky Van Shelton, alongside backing vocals from Vince Gill and Emmylou Harris. The material balances traditional storytelling with polished production that defined early nineties country radio.

Commercially, the project marked a significant victory for Parton. It became her first number one on the Billboard Top Country Albums chart since 1980s releases like 9 to 5 and Odd Jobs, eventually earning Platinum certification from the RIAA in 1992. Four singles emerged from the sessions, led by Rockin' Years featuring Ricky Van Shelton, which climbed to the top of the Billboard Hot Country Singles & Tracks chart. To promote the work, Parton launched the Eagle When She Flies Tour, her only concert run throughout the entire decade.
