    About

The Dubai Multi Commodities Centre, commonly known as DMCC, was established in 2002 by a decree from Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum. The aim was straightforward: turn Dubai into a global hub for commodity trade. It began operations in 2003, starting with gold and diamonds before expanding into energy, metals, agricultural products, and more. Today, DMCC is the largest free zone in the UAE, hosting over 24,000 member companies from more than 180 countries.

DMCC's infrastructure includes the Almas Tower, a 68-story skyscraper that houses the Dubai Diamond Exchange and numerous trading firms. The Jumeirah Lakes Towers (JLT) business district, built around the tower, is a mixed-use development with offices, residences, and retail spaces. The free zone also operates the Dubai Gold and Commodities Exchange (DGCX) and the Tradeflow platform for trade finance, which has processed over $15 billion in transactions since its inception.

In 2021, DMCC was transferred to Dubai Holding, a sovereign wealth fund, as part of a government restructuring. It remains operationally autonomous and continues to expand into new sectors. The DMCC Crypto Centre, launched in 2024, caters to blockchain and digital asset businesses, while a sustainability program targets net-zero emissions by 2040. Representative offices in Shanghai, Mumbai, London, Geneva, São Paulo, Singapore, New York, and Houston help connect Dubai to global commodity markets.
