Douki

Douki is the ring name of Tatsuya Hayama, a Japanese masked professional wrestler signed to New Japan Pro-Wrestling. He is best known for his high-flying lucha libre style, honed during years of training and competition in Mexico, and for his role as a core member of the Los Ingobernables de Japón stable. Douki captured the IWGP Junior Heavyweight Championship in October 2023, a career-defining achievement that elevated him from a perennial underdog to a champion. His persona blends the colorful spectacle of Mexican luchador tradition with the grit of Japanese junior heavyweight wrestling, and he remains a top contender in the division as of 2026. Fans connect with his resilient, never-give-up attitude and his unabashed fandom for anime, which he incorporates into his ring gear and social media presence.[edit]

Born in Tokyo, Douki grew up surrounded by professional wrestling. His father, Tatsutoshi Goto, was a competitor in New Japan Pro-Wrestling, and his older brother Yuya Uemura also became a wrestler. He attended Nihon University but was expelled after being involved in a hazing incident. Determined to pursue wrestling, he initially trained in Japan, but his father arranged for him to go to Mexico to learn lucha libre. He spent several years training at the Consejo Mundial de Lucha Libre dojo and wrestling under the name Máscara Dorada. During this period he won the CMLL World Super Lightweight Championship and the CMLL World Trios Championship, establishing himself as a skilled luchador before returning to Japan.[edit]

Douki made his NJPW debut on June 9, 2019, at Dominion 6.9, aligning with Los Ingobernables de Japón. He quickly became a fixture in the junior heavyweight division, competing in multiple Best of the Super Juniors tournaments and challenging for the IWGP Junior Heavyweight Championship. His persistence paid off on October 9, 2023, at Wrestling World, where he defeated Hiromu Takahashi to win the title for the first time. He successfully defended against TJP and Yoshinobu Kanemaru before losing the belt to El Desperado on March 6, 2024. Since then, he has remained a top contender, feuding with Taiji Ishimori and others, and continues to be a key member of LIJ. In 2026 he participated in the Best of the Super Juniors tournament and remains active in the junior division.[edit]

Douki is known for his high-flying, acrobatic lucha libre style, often wearing bright, colorful masks and tights with anime-inspired designs. His in-ring persona is that of a plucky, resilient underdog who never gives up. On social media, he is playful and enthusiastic, sharing his love for anime, food, and his dog. Fans appreciate his technical skill and work ethic, and he is respected as a talented junior heavyweight who broke through to become a champion. There is no official fandom name, but he is supported by the broader Los Ingobernables de Japón fanbase.[edit]

Douki's fanbase has no formal name, but it is a dedicated and passionate community that has grown alongside his career. There are no documented fan campaigns or rituals specific to him, but his supporters are known for their enthusiasm and connection to his underdog persona. As of August 2026, iFANN's Global Fame Engine has evaluated Douki but he does not currently hold a placement in the published rankings, meaning he is not among the Global Top 1,000 or any Top-100 scope list. This reflects a career that is still building momentum, with his fame driven by his in-ring performances and his role within Los Ingobernables de Japón. While he may not yet be a global household name, his impact on the junior heavyweight division is undeniable, and his fanbase continues to grow as he remains a top contender. The lack of a formal fandom name or organized projects does not diminish the loyalty of his followers, who appreciate his resilience and high-flying style. As his career progresses, it will be interesting to see how his fame evolves and whether he will break into the rankings in the future.[edit]

His ring name Douki comes from the Japanese onomatopoeia for a racing heartbeat, reflecting his high-energy style. He is a huge fan of the anime One Piece and has incorporated its themes into his ring gear and entrance music. He has a pet dog named Perros, which inspired his Instagram handle @doukiperros. He is one of the few Japanese wrestlers to have spent significant time training in Mexico, giving him a unique lucha-libre influenced style. He often uses Spanish phrases like "¡Vamos!" in his social media posts.

Among fans, his performances in the 2019 Best of the Super Juniors tournament are still talked about, as they were recognized among the best of that year. A story from his match against SHO at Satsuma no Kuni is also retold, though the details of that encounter are less documented. These moments, while not widely legendary, have contributed to his reputation as a reliable and exciting competitor.[edit]

Douki is the son of former NJPW wrestler Tatsutoshi Goto. His older brother, Yuya Uemura, is also a professional wrestler currently signed to NJPW. He keeps his personal life private and has not publicly disclosed information about his parents' current occupations or any other family members. He lives in Japan and has a pet dog named Perros.[edit]

Douki is known to be extremely private about his romantic life. There are no publicly confirmed relationships, marriages, or children reported in credible sources. As of 2026, he is reportedly single, with no public information suggesting he is currently dating anyone. His social media presence focuses on wrestling and his hobbies, with no mention of a partner.[edit]

Research by the iFANN Editorial Team currently estimates Douki's net worth at $100,000. His primary income source is his salary from New Japan Pro-Wrestling, which for a mid-to-upper-card junior heavyweight is approximately ¥5-10 million ($35,000-$70,000) annually. He also earns from merchandise sales, a portion of which goes to the wrestler, and occasional independent bookings. His net worth has grown gradually since his 2019 NJPW debut, with a notable increase following his IWGP Junior Heavyweight Championship win in 2023, which likely boosted his merchandise sales and booking fees. He does not have major endorsement deals or business ventures publicly reported.[edit]

Douki has won three championships in his career: the IWGP Junior Heavyweight Championship once, the CMLL World Super Lightweight Championship once, and the CMLL World Trios Championship once. These titles represent the peak of his in-ring accomplishments, with the IWGP Junior Heavyweight title being the most prestigious.[edit]
