Imagine being a teenage boy, finally getting the chance to escape your overbearing mom and dive into a fantasy RPG, only to find her right there beside you in the game world. That is the central joke of Do You Love Your Mom and Her Two-Hit Multi-Target Attacks?, a Japanese light novel series by Dachima Inaka with illustrations by Pochi Iida. The protagonist, Masato Oosuki, is thrilled when he is selected for a government program that transports him into a game called Okaa-san Online. But his excitement turns to horror when his mother, Mamako, joins his party. She is not just any player: she is a max-level tank whose normal attacks hit all enemies twice, making her capable of wiping out entire hordes with a single swing. She is also fiercely protective, which means constant embarrassment for Masato as she solves every battle and coddles him in front of his fellow adventurers.

The series leans into this absurd premise for both broad comedy and genuine heart. Masato initially resents his mother's presence, but over time he learns to appreciate her unconditional love. The story inverts typical isekai power fantasies: instead of the hero being overpowered, it is the mom. Published by Fujimi Shobo under its Fujimi Fantasia Bunko imprint, the novels ran from January 2017 to April 2020, spanning eleven volumes. Yen Press licensed the series for English release, bringing it to a wider audience. The franchise expanded into a manga adaptation by Meicha, serialized in Kadokawa Shoten's digital magazine Young Ace Up from September 2017 to January 2021, and a 12-episode anime produced by J.C.Staff aired from July to September 2019. An OVA followed in March 2020, and a browser RPG launched in 2017.
