Dinara Safina's greatest achievement was reaching world No. 1, a ranking she held for 26 weeks. She is one of only a few players to top the rankings without a Grand Slam singles title, and she and her brother Marat are the only sibling pair to both reach No. 1. Her Olympic silver medal and doubles major highlight a career that also included three Grand Slam singles finals.

AwardsSafina won an Olympic silver medal in singles at the 2008 Beijing Games and the 2007 US Open women's doubles title with Nathalie Dechy. She captured 12 WTA Tour singles titles and nine doubles titles, plus four ITF singles titles. She was also a member of Russia's 2005 Fed Cup-winning team.
