The Grammy for Best Rap Performance by a Duo or Group, awarded for "Rebirth of Slick (Cool Like Dat)," came at a point when hip-hop categories were still new to the ceremony, and the win put a jazz-sampling independent trio on the same broadcast as the industry's established acts. Beyond that, the group's standing is critical rather than institutional. Reachin' and Blowout Comb are routinely cited as foundational jazz-rap records, and the 2026 anniversary treatment of the second album, including a full-album tour and a vinyl reissue, reflects a catalog that has held up better than its initial sales figures suggested.
