Rosalía dropped "Despechá" on July 28, 2022, as a single from the deluxe edition of her album Motomami. The track is a vibrant mambo number that blends merengue and electropop, with lyrics about leaving work and toxic relationships behind to party. Written by Rosalía alongside reggaeton producers Chris Jedi, Gaby Music, and El Kagueto del Guetto, plus Motomami collaborators David Rodríguez, Noah Goldstein, and Dylan Patrice, the song became a global hit. It set a record for the biggest streaming debut for a Spanish-language song by a female artist on Spotify.

"Despechá" topped charts in Spain, Panama, and Uruguay and reached the top ten in seventeen other countries. It also marked Rosalía's first solo entry on the Billboard Hot 100 and her highest-charting single on the Billboard Global 200. A remix with Cardi B followed in December 2022. In 2025, Rolling Stone ranked it among the greatest Spanish-language songs of the 21st century.[edit]
