    Overview

Teru Kurebayashi lost her older brother Tasuku in a tragic accident. Before he died, he gave her a cell phone and told her to text a mysterious contact named Daisy whenever she needed help. Daisy becomes her anonymous lifeline, sending cryptic advice and emotional support. But Teru eventually learns Daisy is actually Kurosaki Tasuku, the grumpy school janitor she blames for her brother’s death. Kurosaki is a former hacker on the run from a shadowy organization connected to Tasuku’s death. He protects Teru from afar while hiding his identity, but she gets pulled into the same dangerous conspiracy.

Kyousuke Motomi’s series ran in Shogakukan’s Betsucomi from 2007 to 2013, collected into 16 volumes. Viz Media released the English version under its Shojo Beat imprint. The story blends romantic comedy with psychological thriller and action, exploring trust, grief, and redemption. The electric shock motif in the title symbolizes both the literal danger and the spark between the leads.

Motomi is known for expressive characters and dynamic paneling. Her other works include Beast Master and QQ Sweeper, which shares thematic DNA with Dengeki Daisy. A one-shot titled Dengeki Daisy: Another Story explores an alternate meeting between Teru and Kurosaki. An anime adaptation by Studio Deen is scheduled for 2027.
