Upon arrival, Yasako joins her grandmother's detective agency, "Coil," which specializes in investigating anomalies within the Den-noh space. The agency operates out of a small shop that doubles as a front for their real-world investigations into the digital underworld. Yasako is soon introduced to a group of friends who form the core of the series: Ken'ichi Harakawa, nicknamed "Haraken," a brilliant and somewhat arrogant tech prodigy who acts as the group's technical expert; Fumie Hashimoto, a shy girl with a deep connection to the digital realm; and the enigmatic Isako Amasawa, a transfer student who possesses an uncanny ability to navigate the Den-noh space and seems to know more about the city's secrets than she lets on.

The central conflict arises from the duality of the Den-noh glasses. While they offer incredible convenience and entertainment, they also allow users to commit crimes, hide evidence, and manipulate reality in ways that have no physical consequences in the traditional sense. The children of Daikoku City frequently engage in "Den-noh crimes," such as stealing virtual items, hacking systems, or creating unauthorized programs. As Yasako and her friends investigate these incidents, they uncover a darker underbelly involving a mysterious organization known as "The Council," which seeks to control the flow of information and suppress the truth about the nature of the Den-noh space.

Throughout the series, the tone shifts between lighthearted slice-of-life adventures, focusing on the daily struggles and friendships of elementary schoolers, and tense, atmospheric mysteries that delve into the philosophical implications of memory, identity, and the internet.
