Records
Cronenberg has won 10 Genie Awards, more than any other director in Canadian history. His film Crash earned a Special Jury Prize at Cannes for its daring originality. Eastern Promises won the People's Choice Award at the Toronto International Film Festival. He has received lifetime achievement honors from the Governor General's Performing Arts Awards, the Canadian Screen Awards, the Cannes Film Festival, and the Venice Film Festival. In 2007, he was appointed a Companion of the Order of Canada, the country's highest civilian honor.
