David Bowie's career earned him seven Grammy Awards, including four for his final album Blackstar in 2017. He won the Brit Award for Best British Male Artist in 1984 and an Outstanding Contribution to Music award in 1996. His pioneering music video for "China Girl" won two MTV Video Music Awards. The Ivor Novello Awards recognized his songwriting with three wins, including a Special Award for Outstanding Contribution to British Music. In 1996, he was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, and in 2006 he received the Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award. He also received a CBE from Queen Elizabeth II in 1999.
