Damiano David

Damiano David is an Italian singer and songwriter who serves as the lead vocalist and frontman of the rock band Måneskin. Born in Rome on January 8, 1999, he rose to global prominence after leading his band to victory at the Sanremo Music Festival in 2021 and subsequently winning the Eurovision Song Contest with their hit single Zitti e buoni. His flamboyant stage presence and distinctive glam-rock aesthetic have made him a defining figure in modern music fashion.

As of 2026, David continues to balance his role within Måneskin with a burgeoning solo career that explores more introspective themes. He released his debut solo album Funny Little Fears in 2025, marking a significant evolution in his artistic identity. Beyond music, he is recognized for his bold fashion choices and advocacy for individuality, often challenging gender norms through his public persona. [edit]

David grew up in Cori, a small town in the province of Latina, before moving to Rome during his childhood. He attended the Liceo Scientifico Statale Giovanni Pascoli, where he cultivated a deep interest in both music and theater. This dual passion laid the groundwork for his theatrical performance style later in life. Before achieving fame, he worked various part-time jobs while studying acting, which influenced his dramatic delivery on stage.

His musical journey began informally when he formed Måneskin in 2016 alongside bassist Victoria De Angelis, drummer Ethan Torchio, and guitarist Thomas Raggi. The group started by performing cover songs in local venues around Rome and uploading videos to YouTube. These early performances helped them build a local following, but they struggled to break into the mainstream until their unique sound and visual style caught the attention of Warner Music Italy in 2018. Despite initial hesitation from his family regarding the instability of a music career, David persisted, driven by a strong work ethic instilled by his working-class upbringing. [edit]

The trajectory of Damiano David's career shifted dramatically in 2021. After winning the Sanremo Music Festival with Zitti e buoni, the song propelled him to international stardom when Måneskin won the Eurovision Song Contest representing Italy. This victory led to massive global tours and multi-platinum sales for their debut album Il ballo della vita.

In 2024, David launched his solo career with the singles Silverlines and Born with a Broken Heart. These tracks signaled a departure from the anthemic rock of Måneskin toward a more personal, vulnerable sound. The success of these releases paved the way for his debut solo studio album, Funny Little Fears, which dropped in 2025. The accompanying solo tour included stops in London and Los Angeles, where he tested new material live to critical acclaim. By 2026, he has successfully established himself as a viable solo artist while maintaining his status as the frontman of one of the world's most popular rock bands. [edit]

David is renowned for his avant-garde fashion sense, often sporting bold makeup, colorful wigs, and gender-fluid outfits inspired by 1970s glam rock and punk aesthetics. His look has made him a muse for high-end designers and a frequent subject of fashion editorials in publications like Vogue Italia and Rolling Stone. On social media, he projects an authentic and unapologetic image, often sharing candid moments that challenge traditional masculinity. His public persona is defined by a commitment to self-expression and a refusal to conform to industry expectations. [edit]
