Dahyun

Dahyun is a South Korean singer known as the lead rapper and sub-vocalist for the girl group TWICE. She is famous for her sharp lyrics, energetic dance moves, and warm personality that draws fans in. Dahyun has expanded her reach through individual projects, including modeling for brands and guest spots on TV shows. At 28 in 2026, she continues to evolve, blending her talents in music and entertainment to connect with a global audience.[edit]

Born Kim Da-hyun on May 28, 1998, in Seongnam, Gyeonggi-do, South Korea, Dahyun's formative years were deeply rooted in her family life and a blossoming passion for music. Growing up in Seongnam alongside her parents and an older brother, she often found herself on stage, performing with enthusiasm in church choirs as a child. It was within these early musical settings that her innate charisma and vocal talents first began to capture attention, hinting at the significant journey that lay ahead for her in the world of entertainment.

Her early promise fully blossomed by the time she was in sixth grade, around 2011, when Dahyun gained widespread recognition for a captivating dance routine she performed. This particular performance, characterized by its energetic and distinct mix of head-banging and wing-flapping moves set to a popular song, quickly went viral across online platforms and earned her a memorable nickname that stuck. This pivotal moment proved to be a significant turning point in her young life, directly leading to her discovery at a youth dance festival. Seizing this opportunity, Dahyun officially joined JYP Entertainment as a trainee in July 2012. For the subsequent three years, she dedicated herself to rigorously honing her skills across various disciplines essential for an idol. During this intensive training period, she also balanced her education, attending Hanlim Multi Art School from which she proudly graduated in February 2017. To further build her professional experience and stage presence, she made appearances in music videos for other artists, steadily preparing herself for the grander spotlight before her eventual debut and breakthrough with TWICE in 2015. [edit]

Dahyun's career took off with TWICE's debut in October 2015, where she quickly became known for her rapping and dance prowess. Her role as lead rapper helped define the group's sound, and she contributed to hits that topped charts in South Korea and beyond. Individual highlights include co-hosting TV shows like Weekly Idol in 2016 and featuring in music videos such as J.Y. Park's Fire that same year.

By 2023, she had landed modeling deals, like her ambassadorship for Michael Kors, and guest spots on programs such as Home Alone. Though she hasn't released solo music, these ventures showcase her versatility. As of 2026, Dahyun remains a key part of TWICE, with her influence growing through endorsements and fan engagements. [edit]

Dahyun is widely regarded as the playful, witty 'vitamin' of TWICE, known for her energetic and humorous personality. Her public persona blends cute, elegant, and street aesthetics, often seen in versatile fashion from chic streetwear to elegant red-carpet looks. Media and fans alike appreciate her bright energy and signature aegyo, which made her a staple on variety shows like Weekly Idol. TWICE's official fandom is ONCE; Dahyun's personal supporters are affectionately called 'Dahyun-bi' or 'Eagle Family,' celebrating her with 'eagle dance' recreations at concerts and heavy support for her solo stages. On social media, she maintains a light-hearted, emoji-heavy voice that actively engages with fans, posting behind-the-scenes glimpses and cheerful updates. Her Instagram account (@dahhyun) averages over 2 million likes per post, reflecting her strong connection with her audience.[edit]

Dahyun's connection with her supporters is defined by the collective identity of ONCE, the official fandom established for TWICE in 2015. While she lacks a distinct individual moniker separate from the group, her dynamic with these fans is characterized by a reciprocal exchange of energy; she cultivates this bond through playful teasing and a persona often described as the group's "happy pill," which has generated countless memes and viral clips within the community. This relationship was tested and strengthened during early 2026 when she sustained a severe ankle fracture, prompting a wave of support as she returned to the stage at the Oakland Arena despite the injury. Her digital presence remains robust, with over 10 million followers on Instagram serving as a direct channel for her informal interactions. Within the broader landscape of global entertainment, Dahyun holds significant standing according to the iFANN Global Fame Rankings. She is currently ranked as the 14th most famous person in J-Pop / J-Rock, a position she has held steady since the previous cycle. This placement reflects her dual impact as both a primary rapper for one of the world's leading girl groups and an emerging actress who recently secured a Rising Star Award for her dramatic debut.[edit]

Before debuting with TWICE in 2015, Dahyun trained for three years at JYP Entertainment, appearing in music videos for groups like GOT7 during her tenure. Standing 165 cm tall, she possesses an MBTI type of ENFP and frequently sings in church settings, reflecting her Christian upbringing. Her early public image was cemented by a viral "eagle dance" performed in 2011, a high-energy routine that still delights fans today. A defining chapter in her modern lore involves the Oakland Arena performance in March 2026, where she danced through a severe ankle fracture sustained earlier that year, an incident cited by supporters as proof of her dedication against rumors of her leaving the group. In June 2026, she achieved a legendary milestone by winning a Rising Star Award for her first major lead role in a TV drama, marking a successful transition into serious acting. Additionally, she lent her voice to the globally popular animated film KPop Demon Hunters in early 2026, expanding the group's brand beyond traditional music formats.[edit]

Dahyun grew up in a close family in Seongnam, with her parents and an older brother providing support. Details about her relatives remain private, but her brother, born in 1995, has been mentioned in passing. She keeps family matters out of the spotlight while focusing on her career. [edit]

Dahyun often collaborates with her TWICE bandmates, including Nayeon and Sana, on stage and in projects. She has worked with artists like J.Y. Park and Young K on music videos, and shared endorsements with Sana for A'pieu. Early connections include festival scouts who spotted her talent. [edit]

As of 2026, Dahyun has not publicly confirmed any romantic relationships. Throughout her career with TWICE, she has maintained a private personal life, and neither she nor JYP Entertainment have acknowledged any dating rumors. Speculation occasionally arises linking her to fellow idols or actors, but these remain unsubstantiated and unconfirmed. Dahyun has consistently emphasized her focus on her career and personal growth, and she is currently single with no reported romantic involvements.[edit]

Per iFANN's editorial analysis, Dahyun's net worth sits at an estimated $8 million as of 2026. This figure is built primarily on her music career with TWICE, generating revenue through album sales, concert tours, and streaming royalties driven by the group's global popularity. Endorsement deals with brands such as A'pieu, extended through 2024, and Michael Kors contribute significantly to her income via modeling and promotional fees. Over recent years, her finances have grown steadily due to TWICE's ongoing commercial success and merchandise sales. Investments in personal branding and potential real estate ventures in South Korea further support her wealth, though specific details remain private. At 28, she continues to benefit from her rising profile in the entertainment industry.[edit]

Dahyun has not won any individual awards in her career so far, with her achievements tied to group efforts. Fans appreciate her contributions through TWICE's successes. [edit]
