Dacian Cioloș

Born on July 27, 1969, in Zalău, Romania, Dacian Cioloș is an engineer, agronomist, and politician whose career has spanned both national and European levels. He first entered public service as Romania's Minister of Agriculture from October 2007 to December 2008. His expertise in agricultural policy soon gained wider recognition. In 2009, Cioloș was nominated by European Commission President José Manuel Barroso to serve as the European Commissioner for Agriculture and Rural Development. He held this significant European post from February 2010 until November 2014. This role provided him with extensive experience in shaping agricultural policy across the European Union.
