Cube Entertainment launched on August 29, 2006, under the vision of Hong Seung-sung and Monica Shin to build a company where performers shaped their own artistic direction. This philosophy took root early with acts like Rain and Hyuna, who utilized the label's resources to craft distinct musical identities rather than following a factory model. The agency expanded its footprint by managing diverse groups such as BEAST (now HIGHLIGHT), Apink, BTOB, and CLC, each known for incorporating self-composed tracks into their discographies.

Leadership shifted dramatically in April 2020 when Hong Seung-sung stepped down amid internal disagreements over business control. Despite this turbulence, the company maintained momentum by nurturing new talent and supporting existing rosters through global markets. By late 2025 and into 2026, Cube continued to operate actively with a lineup including I-dle, PENTAGON, LIGHTSUM, NOWZ, and solo artist Yoo Seon-ho.

The agency recently highlighted its commitment to individual growth with announcements in August 2026 regarding I-dle's leader Soyeon. She prepared to release a solo album in September, marking her first solo comeback in over five years. Simultaneously, the label facilitated the Japanese debut of LIGHTSUM and celebrated the arrival of the boy group NOWZ at the Hong Kong TIMA awards, reinforcing its focus on international expansion.
