Colin Sullivan

Colin Sullivan grew up in South Boston, where he was recruited as a boy by crime boss Frank Costello. Costello acted as a surrogate father, financing Colin's education and grooming him for a specific purpose: to infiltrate the Massachusetts State Police. Colin attended the police academy and eventually joined the Organized Crime Unit, all while secretly feeding information to Costello. His rise through the ranks was swift, and he was widely regarded as a model officer, but his entire career was built on a foundation of betrayal. [edit]

Colin is highly ambitious, status-driven, and politically savvy. He is a master of deception, able to convincingly play the role of a trustworthy cop while secretly working for the mob. Beneath his confident exterior, however, he is deeply insecure and cowardly. He panics when his cover is threatened and will do anything to protect his image, including begging for his life. Colin's arc traces his rise and fall. He begins as Costello's mole inside the State Police, successfully climbing the ranks while sabotaging investigations. When he learns that Costello is also an FBI informant, he feels betrayed and kills Costello during a raid to protect his own cover. This act severs his last tie to the mob, but his past soon catches up with him. Undercover cop Billy Costigan uncovers evidence of Colin's true identity and confronts him. Billy is killed before he can expose Colin, but Sergeant Dignam later deduces the truth and executes Colin in his apartment, ending his double life permanently.[edit]
