Clint Eastwood is one of the most decorated figures in American cinema. He is one of only three people to have won Best Director Oscars for two different films (Unforgiven and Million Dollar Baby). His four competitive Academy Awards place him among the most honored producers and directors in history. He received the Irving G. Thalberg Memorial Award in 1995, the AFI Life Achievement Award in 1996, and the Kennedy Center Honors in 2009. In 2010, President Barack Obama awarded him the National Medal of Arts, and in 2011 he received the Presidential Medal of Freedom. The British Academy recognized him with a BAFTA Fellowship in 2007, and the Directors Guild of America gave him a Lifetime Achievement Award in 2006. These honors reflect a career that spans both popular and critical success across acting, directing, and producing.
