The sudden appearance of such a massive creature forces Emily and Casey to flee their city home for Birdwell Island. This secluded community serves as the backdrop for the original book series and offers a place to hide Clifford from prying eyes. Keeping the dog's existence secret proves difficult as local authorities and greedy developers begin to close in. Two specific villains arrive on the island: Zack Tieran and Packard. They plan to bulldoze the natural landscape to build a luxury resort and view Clifford as either a profit opportunity or an obstacle to their plans.
