Clemson Tigers

The Clemson Tigers represent Clemson University in the Upstate region of South Carolina, fielding twenty-one varsity teams across thirteen sports. The program competes at the NCAA Division I level as a member of the Atlantic Coast Conference. Their athletic identity centers on Memorial Stadium, where football draws crowds exceeding 80,000 spectators to what locals call "Death Valley." Football stands as the flagship sport for the university. Under head coach Dabo Swinney, who began his tenure in 2008, the team transformed into a national contender. The squad recorded six undefeated seasons, including the first 15–0 campaign in college football history during the 2016 season. Clemson secured two National Championships in the modern era, claiming titles after the 2016 and 2018 seasons while making six consecutive College Football Playoff appearances from 2015 through 2021.

The 2026 season opened with a high-profile Week 1 matchup against LSU on September 5. That game highlighted the program's continued relevance despite eligibility controversies surrounding opposing players Wright and Harris. Clemson University established its athletic department in 1889, shortly after the school itself was founded. Dabo Swinney took over as head coach in November 2008 following the resignation of Tommy Bowden. His leadership brought immediate stability and long-term success. The team won its first ACC Championship in 2010 and reached the BCS National Championship Game that same year. By 2016, Clemson had become a perennial powerhouse, defeating Alabama for the national title in January 2017. They repeated this feat by beating Ohio State in January 2019.

Rivalries define the schedule, particularly the annual Palmetto Bowl against South Carolina. Other significant matchups include contests with Notre Dame, Georgia, and Florida State. The program has produced numerous All-Americans and NFL talent, including Heisman Trophy winners Deshaun Watson and Trevor Lawrence.
