Chris Kreider

Christopher James Kreider hails from Boxford, Massachusetts, and turned a childhood love for ice into a professional career with the Montreal Canadiens. Born on April 30, 1991, he played his high school hockey at Masconomet Regional High School and Phillips Andover. His junior year at Phillips Andover saw him lead the team to the New England Prep semifinals while earning the title of New England Prep Player of the Year. He carried that momentum into college, skating for the Boston College Eagles from 2009 to 2012. The New York Rangers selected him in the first round, 19th overall, during the 2009 NHL entry draft before he even began his freshman season. At Boston College, he earned spots on the All-Hockey East Rookie and Second Teams, culminating his collegiate career by winning an NCAA championship in April 2012. Kreider made his NHL debut during the 2012 Stanley Cup playoffs, where he set a new record for most playoff goals scored before playing in a regular season game. After splitting time between the NHL and the Rangers' American Hockey League affiliate for two seasons, he secured a permanent spot on the main roster starting in 2014–15. Despite facing injury setbacks in subsequent years, he continued to shatter personal and franchise records. The league recognized his efforts with two NHL All-Star Game selections, while fans honored him with the Rangers' Steven McDonald Extra Effort Award. During the 2024 Stanley Cup playoffs, he surpassed previous marks to become the Rangers' all-time leader in playoff goals, power play goals, and game-winning goals. Following a single season with the Anaheim Ducks after being traded in the 2026 off-season, he eventually parted ways with the team to join Montreal. His international career spans both junior and senior levels for the United States. Kreider first represented his country at the 2010 World Junior Championships, helping secure a gold medal. Since then, he has appeared in four senior international tournaments, adding two bronze medals to his collection.[edit]
