Chris Claremont's place in comics history is secure. His 16-year run on Uncanny X-Men is the longest by any writer on a single Marvel title, and it produced the best-selling comic book of all time in X-Men #1. He co-created a roster of characters that have become household names, and his stories have been adapted into blockbuster films and animated series. The Dark Phoenix Saga is regularly named the greatest superhero story ever told, and his influence on the X-Men franchise is so deep that every subsequent writer has had to work in his shadow. His induction into the Will Eisner Award Hall of Fame in 2015 was a fitting recognition of a career that changed the medium.
