Chk Chk Boom

Stray Kids released their ninth Korean-language EP Ate on July 19, 2024, with Chk Chk Boom as the lead single. The track fuses hip-hop with reggaeton, built on a dembow rhythm and punctuated by brass stabs. In-house production team 3Racha (Bang Chan, Changbin, Han) co-wrote and co-produced the song with DallasK, Ronnie Icon, and BB Elliot, while Restart also contributed to production.

The music video, directed by Bang Jae-yeob, drew attention for its surprise cameo: Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman appeared in full Deadpool and Wolverine costumes as part of a promotional tie-in with the film Deadpool & Wolverine. The video surpassed 100 million views on YouTube. On the Billboard Hot 100, the song debuted at number 49, Stray Kids' second top-50 entry. It also reached number 30 on the UK Singles Chart and number 18 on South Korea's Circle Digital Chart. Critics praised the confident groove and genre blend, with NME giving it 4 out of 5 stars. The choreography's shooting-hand gesture became a viral TikTok dance challenge, and the track was used in Marvel Studios' promotional material for the film.[edit]
