Yu Narukami

Yu Narukami was born and raised in an unnamed city, the only child of parents who frequently traveled abroad for work. In April 2011, at age sixteen, he moves to the rural town of Inaba to live with his uncle, Detective Ryotaro Dojima, and his six-year-old cousin, Nanako Dojima, while his parents are on an overseas assignment. On his first day at Yasogami High School, he meets Yosuke Hanamura, Chie Satonaka, and Yukiko Amagi, and soon after stumbles into the TV World inside a television set. There, he confronts his own shadow, a repressed, cynical version of himself, and accepts it, awakening his initial Persona, Izanagi. This event sets him on a path to solve the serial murder cases plaguing Inaba, where victims are found dead hanging from television antennas.[edit]

The climax reveals the killer is Tohru Adachi, a nihilistic police officer, and the true mastermind is the goddess Izanami, who created the TV World. In the True Ending, Yu rejects Izanami's offer of a perfect, painless reality, choosing instead to live with the flaws and truths of the real world. With the power of his Social Links, he summons the ultimate Persona Izanagi-no-Okami and defeats Izanami. In Persona 4: Golden, he also bonds with Marie, a fragment of Izanami, helping her reclaim her identity and unlocking the Golden Ending. In spin-offs like Persona 4 Arena, Yu is a more talkative and confident young man who has fully integrated his experiences, now acting as a mentor to new characters.
