Stefan Salvatore

Stefan Salvatore was born on November 1, 1846, in Mystic Falls, Virginia, to Giuseppe and Lillian Salvatore. He grew up under his father's strict rule, with his older brother Damon as his only companion. Their mother supposedly died of consumption when the boys were young, though it was later revealed she faked her death and became a vampire. Giuseppe favored Stefan for his obedience, while Damon was the rebellious troublemaker. In 1864, the Petrova doppelgänger Katherine Pierce arrived in town and seduced both brothers. She turned them into vampires against their will: Stefan was shot by his father, and Katherine forced her blood down his throat to complete the transformation.
