Pamela Voorhees

Pamela Voorhees stands as the original shadow behind Camp Crystal Lake, a figure of maternal grief twisted into something monstrous. Created by writer Victor Miller and brought to life by Betsy Palmer in Sean S. Cunningham's 1980 hit Friday the 13th, she serves as the franchise's first true villain. The film launched with a modest budget but exploded at the box office, proving that horror could thrive on simple premises and relentless tension. Palmer's portrayal defined the slasher genre before Jason Voorhees even picked up a machete.[edit]
