Minnie Mouse

Minnie Mouse was created as a female counterpart to Mickey Mouse, designed by Walt Disney and Ub Iwerks in early 1928. Her first public appearance was in the test screening of Plane Crazy on May 15, 1928, but she gained widespread recognition when she appeared alongside Mickey in Steamboat Willie on November 18, 1928. The name "Minnie" was chosen as a slang term for "small" or "cute," and her full name, Minerva Mouse, was later used in comic strips. Her early design featured a longer, more mouse-like snout, which was softened over time. In the 1930 comic strip "Mr. Slicker and the Egg Robbers," her parents, Marcus Mouse and an unnamed mother, were introduced as farmers. She also has an uncle, Mortimer Mouse (the original name considered for Mickey), twin nieces Millie and Melody, and grandparents Marvel and Matilda.[edit]

In Mickey, Donald, Goofy: The Three Musketeers (2004), she takes on the role of Princess Minnie, a strong-willed leader. Her relationship with Mickey has remained a constant, though they have faced challenges, such as the rival Mortimer Mouse in the 1936 short Mickey's Rival. In the Kingdom Hearts series, she is Queen of Disney Castle, wielding the power of light.
