    Overview

    Origin Story

Before he was Darkseid, he was Prince Uxas, younger son of King Yuga Khan and Queen Heggra of Apokolips. Yuga Khan vanished into the Source Wall chasing its secrets, leaving the throne contested. Uxas saw his older brother Drax go to claim the Omega Effect, a cosmic power source hidden at the edge of the universe. He followed Drax to the Infinity Pit, killed him, and stole the Omega Effect for himself. The energy transformed him instantly: his skin turned to gray stone, his eyes burned red, and he took the name Darkseid. He returned to Apokolips, deposed his mother, and began a reign of absolute tyranny that has lasted eons.

    Personality

Darkseid is cold, calculating, and utterly without empathy. He does not rage or gloat; he simply states facts and expects obedience. Every action he takes serves his singular goal: finding the Anti-Life Equation, a formula that would let him erase free will across all existence. He views love, hope, and individuality as weaknesses to be crushed. His cruelty is clinical, not passionate. On Apokolips, the motto is "Darkseid IS." There is no room for anything else.

    Story Arc

Darkseid first appeared in Jack Kirby's Fourth World saga as the ultimate evil opposing the heroes of New Genesis. Over the decades, he evolved from a straightforward conqueror into a more philosophical menace. In Grant Morrison's Final Crisis, Darkseid's dying influence nearly unravels the multiverse. Geoff Johns' Darkseid War sees his daughter Grail resurrect him and pit him against the Anti-Monitor. In the DC All In initiative, Darkseid bonds with the Spectre using the Miracle Machine, allows the Justice League to kill him, and escapes into another universe, corrupting it into the Absolute Universe. He always returns: as long as tyranny exists, Darkseid endures.
