Captain Price

Born in the United Kingdom, John Price joined the British Army and eventually earned a place in the 22nd Special Air Service Regiment. In the late 1990s, he was deployed to Pripyat, Ukraine, as part of a covert operation to prevent a nuclear disaster. The mission went wrong, resulting in a catastrophic explosion that contaminated the area and killed many civilians. Price survived but was deeply affected by the event, developing a personal vendetta against the ultranationalist extremists responsible. He rose through the ranks to become a captain, known for his unorthodox methods and refusal to follow orders that compromised his principles.[edit]

In Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare, Price leads Sergeant Soap MacTavish through missions against ultranationalist Imran Zakhaev. Price sacrifices himself to save Soap during the game's climax, seemingly dying in a helicopter crash. He survives, however, and is captured and imprisoned in a Russian gulag. In Modern Warfare 2, Task Force 141 rescues him in the mission The Gulag. Freed, Price goes rogue, forming a new Task Force 141 to hunt Vladimir Makarov. In Modern Warfare 3, Price becomes the main playable character, leading the assault on Makarov's forces. He finally kills Makarov in a hotel siege, ending the original trilogy. In the 2019 reboot, Price is a younger captain in the SAS, working with CIA officer Alex and Sergeant Kyle Garrick. He helps form Task Force 141 to combat Al-Qatala and Victor Zakhaev, establishing a new continuity.[edit]
