The story unfolds across the continent of Valandis where the industrial empire of Galdos, agrarian Krasna, and militaristic Oshun clash over resources and ideology. You control Caelum, a young pilot who discovers he can wield mechs called Echoes powered by Aether energy. This resource also creates sentient Dolls, robots caught in the middle of political schemes that blur the lines between hero and villain. Every decision ripples through the plot, leading to multiple endings based on how you resolve the conflict surrounding the Dolls and the kingdoms.

Combat relies on visible encounters on the overworld map instead of random battles, letting players choose when to fight or sneak past enemies.
