Chaim Herzog

Chaim Herzog's career was marked by a series of distinguished achievements. He rose to the rank of major-general in the Israel Defense Forces, served as Director of Military Intelligence, and later became Israel's ambassador to the United Nations, where his dramatic protest against Resolution 3379 earned him international recognition. As President, he served two full terms, a period that saw him become a respected elder statesman. His legacy is further cemented by the fact that his son Isaac followed in his footsteps to become president, a unique occurrence in Israeli history. The Chaim Herzog Prize, awarded annually, continues to honour his memory.
