    About

British miners from the Real del Monte y Pachuca mining company brought association football to Hidalgo in the late 19th century. Some accounts suggest an initial founding in 1892 before formal organization occurred on November 28, 1901. The club originally operated as Pachuca Football Club and later the Pachuca Athletic Club before a restructuring in 1960 established its modern form. Players wear blue and white kits that honor the local mining heritage while competing at high altitude.

Estadio Hidalgo serves as the home ground for the team. Locals call this venue La Cantera because of the club's reputation for developing young talent rather than buying established stars. The pitch sits roughly 2,400 meters above sea level, creating a physical challenge for visiting squads accustomed to lower elevations.

Pachuca has won seven Liga MX titles and holds the record for six CONCACAF Champions Cup victories among Mexican clubs. They also secured the Copa Sudamericana in 2006 along with the FIFA Challenger Cup, FIFA Derby of the Americas, and North American SuperLiga. The squad reached the final of the 2024 FIFA Intercontinental Cup and finished third at the 2017 FIFA Club World Cup.

    History

The British workers who arrived in Pachuca during the mining boom introduced soccer to the region around 1892. This unique origin story distinguishes the club from many others founded by local enthusiasts. After a period of dormancy, the organization refounded itself in 1960 to continue competitive play. The nickname Los Tuzos refers to the miners who worked underground, symbolizing resilience and hard work.

Paco Ayestarán transformed the club in the early 2000s by prioritizing youth development over expensive transfers. His tactical approach laid the groundwork for decades of success in both domestic and international tournaments. Later managers like Martín Palermo and Guillermo Almada have maintained this focus on attacking football and academy graduates.

Rivalries with América and Cruz Azul define the matchday experience for supporters. These encounters draw massive crowds to Estadio Hidalgo where fans create vibrant displays throughout the stadium. The community connection remains strong through various social initiatives led by the club.
