Ceyair Wright

Ceyair J. Wright is an American professional football cornerback and actor who has carved a unique path between the NFL and Hollywood. Born in the United States to parents who were both accomplished athletes, he grew up with a competitive spirit that fueled his dual ambitions. He attended St. Bernard High School in New Orleans before playing college football for the USC Trojans and later the Nebraska Cornhuskers.

Wright entered the National Football League as an undrafted free agent with the Cincinnati Bengals in 2026. His tenure was short-lived but highly publicized when he left the team's training camp in August 2026 to pursue a lead role in a major motion picture. This decision marked a significant shift in his career trajectory, moving him from the gridiron to the silver screen. [edit]

Ceyair Wright's life was shaped by athletics from the very beginning. His father, Ceyair Wright Sr., played in the NFL, while his mother was a track star. Growing up in this environment, he absorbed a deep understanding of competition and discipline early on. He attended St. Bernard High School in New Orleans, Louisiana, where he excelled as a defensive back, drawing attention from college scouts for his speed and coverage skills.

After high school, Wright initially committed to the University of Southern California to play for the Trojans. During his two seasons at USC, he appeared in 16 games, recording 30 tackles, one interception, and two pass breakups. In 2024, he transferred to the University of Nebraska Cornhuskers to continue his development. The 2025 season saw him play in all 13 games with nine starts, where he recorded 29 tackles, 1.0 tackle for loss, 0.5 sacks, and a team-high five pass breakups. These performances solidified his reputation as a top defensive prospect heading into the professional ranks. [edit]

Wright's acting career began well before his time in the NFL. In 2021, he landed a role as a young basketball player in the blockbuster film Space Jam: A New Legacy, starring alongside global icons like LeBron James. He also appeared in the 2019 film American Skin. These early roles established his presence in the entertainment industry while he was still developing his football career.

In 2026, Wright entered the NFL as an undrafted free agent, signing with the Cincinnati Bengals. Standing at 6 feet 1 inch and weighing 185 pounds, he possessed the physical attributes required for the cornerback position. However, his time with the Bengals became historic for a different reason. In August 2026, while training for the upcoming season, he made the shocking decision to leave the 90-man roster to accept a lead role in Get Lite, a dance movie directed by Teyana Taylor. This move drew significant media attention, with outlets like The Athletic and Yahoo Sports highlighting it as a rare moment where an athlete chose a Hollywood career over a potential starting position in the league. Following his departure, the Bengals placed him on the exempt list. As of October 2026, reports suggested the team might consider bringing him back if his filming schedule allowed, though his primary focus remained on his acting debut scheduled for release in 2027. [edit]

Wright is portrayed as a versatile talent and a trailblazer in the sports and entertainment industries. Media coverage emphasizes his courage to step away from the stability of the NFL for a risky but passion-driven career in Hollywood. He is seen as a role model for young athletes who wish to explore creative avenues beyond their sport. His social media presence on Instagram and X focuses primarily on his athletic achievements and acting projects rather than personal relationships, maintaining a low profile regarding his dating life.
