    Overview

Based on the 2004 film starring Halle Berry, this action-adventure game puts players in the sleek suit of Catwoman. You prowl through a stylized, nighttime version of New Orleans, using acrobatic moves, claws, and a whip to take down enemies. The gameplay focuses on stealth, combat, and parkour, with levels that emphasize verticality and quick escapes. Developer Argonaut Software crafted a title that blends movie tie-in elements with original story beats, though it received mixed reviews for its repetitive mission structure and clunky controls. Released in July 2004, the game landed on PlayStation 2, Xbox, GameCube, Windows, and Game Boy Advance. While Halle Berry's likeness appears, the voice work comes from Jennifer Hale, giving Catwoman a distinct vocal presence. This was Argonaut's last release before a long hiatus, as the company went dormant until its revival in 2024.

    Gameplay

Catwoman is a third-person action-adventure game built around stealth, acrobatic combat, and parkour traversal. The player controls Patience Phillips as Catwoman through a stylized, nocturnal New Orleans. Core movement involves wall-jumping, climbing, and running along ledges, with levels designed to emphasize verticality and quick escapes. A whip allows swinging across gaps, pulling objects, and disarming enemies. Combat uses claws and the whip to string together combos and finishing moves. A Cat Fury meter builds during combat, enabling more powerful attacks. Stealth is key: players can sneak up on enemies from above or behind. The mission-based structure includes infiltration, sabotage, and boss fights. The Game Boy Advance version is a 2D side-scrolling platformer with simplified mechanics.

    Story

Patience Phillips, a shy graphic designer, discovers a dark secret at Hedare Beauty cosmetics. After being murdered for her knowledge, she is resurrected by a mystical cat goddess, gaining feline abilities. As Catwoman, she seeks revenge and justice in a stylized New Orleans, fighting corrupt executives, detectives, and thugs. The narrative includes original beats not in the film, expanding on the conflict between her human and feline sides. Jennifer Hale voices Catwoman, with Halle Berry's likeness used for the character model.
