The lyrics depict a narrator pledging total devotion and service to a partner in exchange for loyalty. While early reports often singled out Kelly Rowland for her contributions, writing credits confirm that all three members, Beyoncé Knowles, Kelly Rowland, and Michelle Williams, collaborated on the songwriting process alongside Rodney Jerkins, Robert Waller, and Ric Rude.
