Captain of the Guards

The Captain of the Guards serves as the head enforcer for Lord Farquaad, the tyrannical ruler of Duloc. He commands the city's guards in their mission to purge the kingdom of all fairy-tale creatures, rounding them up for relocation or imprisonment. The Captain is gruff, intimidating, and unquestioningly obedient. He carries out orders with ruthless efficiency, showing no sympathy for the magical beings he captures. Despite his menacing demeanor, he is not particularly intelligent, often falling for simple tricks and displaying a short temper. The Captain appears only in the first act of Shrek. He leads the roundup of fairy-tale creatures, arresting the Three Little Pigs, Pinocchio, and the Gingerbread Man. During the interrogation of the Gingerbread Man, he breaks the cookie's legs to extract information. After reporting to Farquaad, he fades from the story.
