Calpurnia was a Canadian indie rock band formed in Vancouver in 2017, active for a relatively short period before disbanding in late 2019. The group consisted of Finn Wolfhard on lead vocals and rhythm guitar, Malcolm Craig on drums, Ayla Tesler-Mabe on lead guitar and vocals, and Jack Anderson on bass and vocals. Their music drew inspiration from classic rock and alternative artists, aiming for a sound that blended youthful energy with a mature musical sensibility. The band released their debut EP, Scout, in June 2018, featuring singles like "City Boy" and "Louie." Despite their brief existence, Calpurnia garnered a notable online following, particularly through their YouTube channel which accumulated over 799,000 subscribers and more than 39 million views. Their brief career was marked by live performances and the release of a small but distinct discography, leaving a trace in the indie music scene. Throughout their active period, Calpurnia performed live, including a notable show at Irving Plaza in New York in July 2018 and at Baylor University's Diadeloso festivities in April 2019. The band's name, Calpurnia, is inspired by Calpurnia, the wife of Julius Caesar in Roman history and Shakespeare's play Julius Caesar. Following Calpurnia's disbandment, Finn Wolfhard and Malcolm Craig went on to form a new musical project named The Aubreys. [edit]
