Sykes's defensive accolades place her among the elite guards in WNBA history. She is one of only a handful of players to earn multiple All-Defensive First Team selections while leading the league in steals. Her ability to guard positions one through three makes her a matchup nightmare, and her leadership as team captain for the Connecticut Sun underscores her value beyond the stat sheet. Off the court, her community work in Newark earned her a key to the city in 2023.

AwardsSykes has won two WNBA All-Defensive First Team selections (2022, 2023) and was named to the WNBA All-Rookie Team in 2016. She also won an Israeli League championship in 2019 and was named to the ACC All-Tournament Team in 2016. In 2020, she was recognized on the Syracuse University All-Century Team.
