Brice Turang

Brice Turang is an American professional baseball second baseman for the Milwaukee Brewers of Major League Baseball. Born on November 21, 1999, he established himself as one of the premier defensive players in the league at a young age after being selected 21st overall in the 2018 MLB Draft. His career trajectory moved quickly from high school standout to major leaguer, where his fielding abilities have defined his impact.

In 2024, Turang achieved a rare double-dip of accolades by winning both the National League Gold Glove Award and the Platinum Glove Award. These honors cemented his status as the elite defender at his position early in his tenure with the Brewers. He continues to be a central figure in the team's infield defense, known for his range and arm strength. [edit]

Brice Turang was born and raised in Corona, California, a city in Riverside County known for its suburban growth and athletic culture. He attended Mater Dei High School in Santa Ana, where he played shortstop and second base. During his high school career, he was a standout prospect who earned All-State honors and drew significant attention from college scouts and professional teams alike. Despite receiving offers from major universities including Stanford and USC, Turang chose to enter the professional ranks directly after graduation. His decision to turn pro rather than play college baseball highlighted his confidence in his skills and the organization's willingness to invest in him early.

His upbringing in Southern California instilled a competitive spirit that would define his professional demeanor. The transition from high school to the minor leagues required immediate adjustment to higher levels of competition. Turang spent three seasons in the minors, primarily with the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers and Biloxi Shuckers, refining his fielding mechanics and plate discipline before making his debut. This period was crucial for developing the versatility that would later allow him to handle multiple positions in emergency situations while preserving his primary role at second base. [edit]

Turang made his MLB debut on April 6, 2023, against the San Diego Padres. His transition to the majors was marked by immediate impact, particularly on the defensive side of the ball. In 2024, he won the National League Gold Glove Award and the Platinum Glove Award, becoming the youngest player in Brewers history to win a Gold Glove at second base. These awards recognized his superior fielding performance and solidified his reputation as an elite defender.

He continued his dominance defensively through 2025, leading NL second basemen in various defensive efficiency metrics while maintaining a consistent offensive presence. In October 2026, he delivered a clutch home run in Game 1 of the National League Championship Series against the Los Angeles Dodgers. This moment was widely celebrated for its timing and power, described by analysts as a blast only typically seen from power hitters like Shohei Ohtani. That same month, he was named a finalist for the Gold Glove Award again alongside teammate Jackson Chourio, signaling sustained excellence in his game. [edit]

Turang is portrayed in the media as a humble, hard-working, and faith-driven athlete. He avoids controversy and focuses strictly on his performance. His public persona is that of a "player's player", someone who leads by example rather than words. The media often highlights his quiet confidence and his ability to perform in high-pressure situations, such as the playoffs. His sparse social media content focuses on faith and baseball, reinforcing this image of dedication and sincerity. [edit]
