Brian Kernighan's influence in computer science is hard to overstate. His co-authored book on C has trained countless programmers and remains a standard reference decades after publication. His work on AWK and AMPL has shaped how text processing and optimization are done. The algorithms he developed with Shen Lin are still used in logistics and routing.
