Bret Hart's career is defined by historic firsts and records. He was ranked #1 on WWE's 2023 list of the 50 Greatest Wrestlers of All Time. Pro Wrestling Illustrated ranked him #1 in the PWI 500 in 1993 and 1994, and named him the #1 singles wrestler of the 1990s. He is one of the few wrestlers to hold both the WWF and WCW World Heavyweight Championships. His match against Stone Cold Steve Austin at WrestleMania 13 is frequently cited as one of the greatest in history. Hart's technical style and storytelling influenced generations of wrestlers.

AwardsBret Hart has won numerous championships and honors. He is a five-time WWF Champion, two-time WCW World Heavyweight Champion, two-time WWF Intercontinental Champion, and two-time WWF Tag Team Champion. He won the 1993 Royal Rumble and was inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame twice. In 2020, he was appointed to the Order of Canada.
