XPeng

He Xiaopeng walked into the Guangzhou startup scene in August 2014 with a vision that went beyond building cars. He wanted to create intelligent machines that could learn and evolve, much like the software running on his previous company Kingsoft. This ambition led to the birth of XPeng Motors, a brand that treats vehicles as rolling computers first and automobiles second.

The company has since grown into a major player in the electric vehicle sector, listing its shares on both the New York Stock Exchange and the Hong Kong Stock Exchange. While many manufacturers outsource their software development, XPeng keeps full-stack advanced driver-assistance systems and intelligent operating environments in-house. This strategy allows them to push over-the-air updates that actually change how the car drives.

By September 2026, XPeng had expanded its horizons well past traditional automotive boundaries. The company began mass-producing its IRON humanoid robot, which autonomously walked off the production line using semi-solid-state batteries. Simultaneously, they launched right-hand-drive versions of the G9L SUV for Australia and revealed plans to bring the Mona L03 sedan to Europe at price points designed to challenge Tesla directly.
